Cloth Wipes

When we decided to start using cloth diapers on our boys I didn’t really have any intention of using cloth wipes. I figured whatever was being wiped off my baby’s butt needed to be thrown away. So we started cloth diapers and used disposable wipes – silly, right? I’m washing the dirty diaper anyway, why not wash the wipe too? If I don’t wash the wipe then I need to find a bag to throw the wipe in, tie it off, and put it in the trash can…not exactly eco-friendly and is three extra steps. Who has time for three extra steps?? I didn’t think that through at first. So, I found these awesome baby wipes on Etsy.com (asyoustitchbaby)– 3 dozen for $26 – and they have been working like a charm. I probably could’ve made them myself BUT at the time I didn’t have a sewing machine and I don’t mind recognizing the crafty contributors on etsy.com. Mama’s helping mama’s.

The wipes I purchased are 100% cotton, neutral colored (green and yellow, covered in frogs, stars, polka dots, etc.) I have had them for over a year and are still in fantastic shape. I use the same wipe container as I would my disposable wipes, fold the cloth wipes in half, and pour a homemade cloth wipe solution over top. You can purchase the wipe-solution, but why spend the money when you probably have all of the ingredients you need in your cupboard. And when you’re done wiping up your child’s business simply throw the wipe in with the diapers and wash in hot, hot, hot water. But what’s great ~ even if you don’t cloth diaper these wipes are great for dirty hands and faces. I place my wipes in a plastic container and they fit perfectly in my diaper bag or purse and are very handy on the go.

Cloth Wipe Solution:

1 cup of water, warm

1/4 cup of Coconut Oil

1/4 cup of Baby Wash (whatever you have on hand)

A few drops of Tea Tree Essential Oil (to keep bacteria & growth away)

Shakey! Shakey! and You are ready to pour on your cloth wipes!

So easy, and so much more gentle on your little ones tender skin.
