If I’m having a busy day, the last thing I want to do is start pulling ingredients out of the fridge or pantry to make lunch.  But this recipe is different – no chopping or prepping necessary! With pre-baked pizza crust, store bought hummus or bean dip, canned chickpeas, and dried herbs, this pizza can be assembled and baked in minutes.

Buffalo Chickpea & Herb Pizza


  • Pizza stone or baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • 2 small mixing bowls
  • Mixing spoon


  • 1 batch pizza dough homemade or store bought enough to make (1) 12-inch pizza (can also use pre-baked
  • flat bread or pre-baked store-bought pizza dough)
  • ½ cup plain hummus or bean dip
  • 1-2 tablespoon hot sauce
  • Salt and pepper optional
  • 1 15 oz. can chickpeas drained and rinsed
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • ¼ cup mozzarella cheese
  • 2-3 tablespoon herbs (parsley basil, thyme, rosemary, dill, chives or a mix of these


  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • If using raw dough, prepare according to instructions and pre-bake for 5-6 minutes before adding toppings.
  • Place prepared crust on a pizza stone or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • In a small mixing bowl, mix hummus or bean dip, hot sauce, and salt and pepper (if using) until smooth. Taste and add more hot sauce, salt and pepper if needed. Set aside.
  • In another small bowl, add the chickpeas, olive oil, salt, pepper, and cayenne. Mix to combine and set aside.
  • Spread hummus/bean dip-hot sauce mixture on top of crust. Top with chickpeas and cheese. Bake for 10-15 minutes until cheese is melted and crust is done. Top with herbs and additional hot sauce if desired.
