Nutrition
Whole Food Nutrition to Nourish Your Body and Soul
Nourishing our body and mind is a potent form of self care. The foods we choose to consume do so much more for us than simply give us energy to get through our busy days. Our choices contribute to overall wellness and provide us with so many healing properties.
Our approach to food and nutrition is one of abundance. In other words, we don’t focus on the “bad” foods or center our message on what a person should be eating less of. In fact, it’s the very opposite. We help our community shift their intention to the foods they want to make more room for in their meals, on their plates and in their overall life. This shift means our Registered Dietitians will meet you where you are and provide guidance that will work for you and your family.

Reiki
Discover Healing Energy Therapy
Reiki is a healing energy therapy originated by Mikao Usui in Japan. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life Force” and (Ki) which means energy. Reiki is a hands-on healing system as well as an energy source that restores energetic alignment and balance and promotes healing on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. Reiki does not “fix”, but induces the relaxation response and puts the body in the best place for healing. Reiki benefits accumulate over time.
Benefits of Reiki:
– Enhances personal awareness
– Restores balance and harmony to the energy system
– Decreases stress and increases relaxation
– Supports and accelerates the body’s natural healing response
– Strengthens immune response
– Non-invasive – no side effects of contraindications
– Relives acute and chronic pain and discomfort
– Stimulates energy and mental clarity
– Restful sleep
– Decreases weakness and nausea
Distance Reiki
Distance Reiki sessions are 60 minutes and include a pre and post talk to set the intention for the session and identify specific areas of concentration. Reiki practitioners and clients can connect via phone, FaceTime, Zoom, Skype or Blue Jeans. Clients create a peaceful, comfortable place to rest without distraction in their own home; feel free to light a candle, draw the curtains, lie under a blanket, play mellow music, use essential oils, etc. During each session clients may note progressive relaxation, warmth, calmness, traveling sensations of energy flow in body, heaviness, and sleep.

“I wanted to let you what a wonderful experience “remote” Reiki was. In the beginning, I was skeptical about how this would work. But, as soon as I followed the practitioner’s instructions on how to find a quiet space in my home, light a candle, and to start deep breathing, I found this experience to be truly healing. During the remote sessions, the practitioner may read a meditation or some quotes, and we would discuss topics important to me. The practitioner would ask ‘what are my expectations that I would like to put forth in my session’, and we would go from there. I must say, when the sessions ends, I feel less stress, less pain and inspired.”

Member Testimonials

Marta
“Having joined Unite for HER, to which I’ll be eternally grateful, and then Stronger Thru Cancer, are undoubtedly the best two decisions I have made throughout my cancer experience. While the medical team works on my recovery, Stronger Thru Cancer and Priscilla heal my soul; physically, because she is an excellent cancer specialist instructor, but most importantly, mentally and emotionally. I didn’t and don’t like exercise, but she inspires you to like it. Before joining, I wasn’t sure if I could do the exercises, but the classes are suited for every level of energy, strength, good day or bad day that I’m having, and I always feel better after attending one of them. In addition, if you can’t make the live classes, there is an extensive video library, so you can fit the classes into your schedule. Plus, it’s not just exercise. It’s an amazing, strong, very supportive community. Priscilla is one of the most compassionate, best people I’ve ever met. You’ll be better in every respect for joining and won’t regret it. It’ll be the best use of 3 squares on your passport (for a 6-month membership) that you can imagine.”
“I wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying the Stronger Thru Cancer program. Priscilla is just amazing! I look forward to the stretching, yoga and balance classes each day (and I hate exercising)! The women who attend the classes are so supportive I feel like I have a new group of friends. Thank you so much for including this in the passport.”

Anne
“I highly recommend Stronger Thru Cancer! I signed up for it using 3 squares of my UFH passport and started to take live classes about halfway through my 6-month neoadjuvant chemotherapy regimen. I wish I had started earlier! Priscilla is an excellent instructor; she always is encouraging and provides instruction for people of all skill levels. Taking weight training and circuit classes has made me stronger – I actually was able to get up off the floor using my core for the first time in years! The best part of STC is the community that Priscilla has built. The women who take the live classes are an amazing group, who support and cheer each other on through the highs and lows of living with cancer. STC is a truly amazing community and an incredible investment for your health!”

Leslie
“Priscilla has created something very special through her Stronger Thru Cancer program. I don’t even know if I would call it a program, but rather a community. A community whose members are living with cancer or recovering from cancer, and most importantly, a community whose members want to feel better through exercise, despite their challenges. Although exercise may be the last thing you want to do, Priscilla makes it so doable. She provides a variety of exercises and explains how to do them at various stamina levels. You can attend live classes, or you can access her video library at your convenience. She is so very encouraging and positive. She is truly a light! Join and you will simply feel better.”

Lynda
“Unite for HER has been by my side since my first diagnosis in 2018, providing access to fresh produce, counseling and massage. I had been exercising regularly, but after my metastatic diagnosis, it all seemed like it was too much. When I saw Priscilla’s video on the Unite for HER website, I decided to give it a try. Wow, what a difference Stronger Thru Cancer has made. Beyond the cardio, strength, balance and yoga, there is a sense of community and commitment, with a coach and members who understand and encourage each other. Even on those days when I don’t think I can do anything but show up, my day is brighter, and I feel stronger and supported.”
“I always loved working out and pushing myself to get stronger, the day I got my breast cancer diagnosis, all of that changed. Things moved so quickly- chemo, surgeries, radiation- instead of going back to the gym, I just dreamed about not being sick, having some strength to walk, easing pain, not throwing up, no nosebleeds, having hair and fingernails and toenails again. The silver lining of all this was that I was introduced to Unite for HER. What a blessing. As I navigated all of their information, my attention was immediately drawn to Stronger Thru Cancer. According to the description that I read, this just might fit my need for safe exercise tailored to my needs and abilities. So I signed up and have no regretted that decision for one second.”

Elizabeth
“As a 61-year-old woman with metastatic breast cancer, I am so grateful for the support I have found through Unite for HER. Every six months, I receive 6 stamps to be applied towards a variety of integrative care options, such as meal kits, produce delivery, a grocery card, six-week special offering classes or a six-month exercise membership.
Twice, I opted to use 3 stamps for six months of the Stronger Thru Cancer virtual exercise program. What makes the program special is the instructor, Priscilla Fitzpatrick, and the fact that the classes are live. On a weekly basis Priscilla offers multiple, different live exercise classes ranging from Seated Strength to Stronger Circuit. The classes that have personally added to my quality of life are Balance, Cardio and Strength, Gentle Yoga and Empowerment/Mindfulness & Meditation. The Balance class, in particular, has noticeably helped me. I appreciate being able to take live classes in the comfort of my home or yard. Classes generally start with a check-in to see how everyone is doing. Priscilla adapts the class to the current needs of the participants and offers suggestions to modify exercises to meet individual limitations and strengths. Classes allow for individual growth. There are women from all over the United States taking the live classes, and I have learned a lot from them and from Priscilla herself, that are now a part of my daily routine. One of the many things cancer has taught me is that exercise really impacts how I feel on a daily basis. Stronger Thru Cancer inspires me to exercise everyday by offering a wonderful instructor and engaging classes.”

“Unite for HER’s passport has been truly a blessing. It took me about 3 months to feel like I could even think about exercising, but using those 3 passport squares for a 6-month membership to Stronger Thru Cancer has been a game changer for me! I almost didn’t even consider the Stronger Thru Cancer option. I mean, this was my second ovarian cancer journey, and I recovered physically once. I could do it again, right? Probably, but I wouldn’t have pushed myself to jump on the live classes without the amazing camaraderie, love and support I have found in this group. Movement is critical, but so is the laughter and understanding of women who have walked a similar path. My health is better, and my life is richer because of the community Priscilla and her “beautiful” sisters have created.”

Our aim is:
– To be a source of trustworthy information.
– To empower and educate patients about safe personal care product options and their personal care product choices.
– To share some the potential risks of commonly-used beauty ingredients, as well as the shortcomings and lack of long-term testing of many ingredients in the US beauty industry.
– To offer clean beauty guidance that is accessible and actionable.
We acknowledge: Our viewpoint reflects a constantly evolving body of knowledge and research and may also evolve and change as our understanding of clean beauty and safe cosmetics develops. Acupuncture
Reduce Fatigue, Hot Flashes, and Neuropathy with Acupuncture
Acupuncture has been found to be very effective in easing cancer treatment symptoms. Headaches, fatigue, nausea, pain, vomiting, neuropathy, circulation, hot flashes and digestion all can be greatly reduced and/or eliminated with acupuncture treatments.
Acupuncture is an ancient Chinese medical practice that has been used for over 2,500 years to effectively treat illness. Acupuncture is a safe, effective, chemical- and drug-free way to stimulate the body’s remarkable self-healing abilities. Through the insertion of very tiny solid needles into specific points on the body, acupuncture has been found to reduce or eliminate headaches, fatigue, nausea, pain, vomiting, neuropathy, hot flashes and support circulation and digestion with regular treatments.
Led by Dr. Thomas Burgoon, all acupuncturists in our provider network are thoroughly vetted and medically licensed.
